Minister praises work of Natural Devon

Members of Natural Devon (Devon Local Nature Partnership) have met with Defra Minister Lord de Mauley.

The meeting was an opportunity to inform the Minister of the achievements and challenges faced by the Partnership, which brings together those working to protect and enhance our natural environment for the benefit of everyone in Devon.

Nicola Bulbeck, Chief Executive of Teignbridge District Council, and Tim Jones, from the Local Enterprise Partnership, discussed issues of development around Exeter and the importance of maintaining green spaces, cycle routes and footpaths...

Residents invited to speak at open forum

People in Exeter are being given the chance to quiz councillors on any “burning” issues for the city.

Exeter residents are invited to put forward questions to members of the joint County and City Councils' Exeter Board, at their next meeting on 15 January at 5:30pm at the Civic Centre in Paris Street. The Board allocates 15 minutes for their ‘open forum’, with 3 minutes per speaker, with a maximum of three to four speakers to allow time for discussion.

Previously, residents have prompted debate about issues including street lighting, homelessness and waste collection....

Devon farmers’ leaders are keen to hear Environment Secretary Liz Truss’s proposals to help the industry cope with price volatility and relationships with retailers when she addresses the county’s annual open meeting on Friday (28 November).

It looks like being a tough autumn and winter for the region’s farmers, with low prices, restricted cash flows and uncertainty about the application process for the next round of Common Agricultural Policy funding and dealing with bovine TB adding to the challenges they face.
