Residents and staff welcomed popular presenter, Judi Spiers and her much-loved sidekick Gus Honeybun, to The Old Vicarage Residential Care Home in the picturesque village of Otterton. The local celebrity duo are on a mission to raise awareness and much needed funds as part of Hospiscare’s annual ‘coffee morning’ fundraiser. The campaign runs throughout September and is supported by Mercedes Benz SW who provide a Hospiscare branded car for Judi’s travels around the county.

Local radio and TV personality Judi Spiers has set off with her long term pal, Gus Honeybun to visit as many coffee mornings as they can in September.

Supported by Mercedes Benz of Exeter, who are sponsoring the campaign and who have kindly lent Judi a Cabriolet in which she can zip about the lanes of Devon, the pair will be visiting workplaces, homes and village halls to enjoy some home baking, strong coffee and to give thanks to the lovely people in our community who are raising money for local hospice charity, Hospiscare .

The latest group of young people in Devon have taken part in a Rugby World Cup Legacy programme.

The Business Empowering Employment Programme (BEEP) gives 16-24 year olds the confidence and skills to secure jobs and training opportunities.

Eight youngsters have completed an initial two-week course run by Motiv-8sw and were presented with their certificates at a celebration event on Friday (Oct 21) by radio and television broadcaster Judi Spiers.

Following a successful pilot show, Judi Spiers begins a new series on Exeter’s independent station Radio Exe every Sunday in November starting on Sunday 8 November.

As well as Radio Exe’s famously broad mix of music, the three-hour weekly show will feature special guests, Judi’s unique brand of humour and conversation, and the chance to win a £100 Princesshay Gift Card each week.

The announcement comes as BBC Radio Devon’s audience (on which Judi used to present a popular show) has plummeted to its lowest level for more than two decades.

WESC Foundation, a school and college for children, young people and adults with sight loss, is a specialist centre for Visual Impairment. The Exeter-based charity held a sell-out fashion show fundraiser hosted at the Met Office sponsored by ITEC Connect. More than 150 guests descended on the Met Office before being whisked off in chauffer driven limousines courtesy of Mercedes-Benz Exeter to feel like a star posing for the paparazzi on the red carpet before enjoying a champagne reception.
