Get Fresh! Devon Guild contemporary crafts gallery is announcing an Open Call to emerging South West craft designer-makers.

'Get Fresh' is a popular biennial exhibition celebrating the best new designer-makers coming out of the region. It will run at the contemporary crafts gallery Devon Guild of Craftsmen in Bovey Tracey, from Saturday 19 January to Sunday 10 March 2019. This is a really positive opportunity for graduates or creatives just beginning their careers - to exhibit and sell in a prestigious contemporary gallery space. Exhibition: Jerwood Makers Open

Launched in 2010, Jerwood Makers Open is a biennial opportunity focusing on UK makers who propose to make ambitious, radical work in their first years of practice.

Five artists, Sam Bakewell, Juli Bolaños-Durman, Jessica Harrison, Marcin Rusak and Laura Youngson Coll, were selected from 271 submissions.

Each received grants to develop and tour new work in a diverse range of materials. Exhibits incorporate chainsaw-carved wood, parian porcelain, repurposed glass, organic waste, vellum and fish skin.

Exhibition: Off the Surface - the art of hand-embroidery

A collaborative exhibition showcasing the art of hand embroidery, old and new. Degree students from The Royal School of Needlework have produced contemporary, hand-embroidered work inspired by treasured textiles from world renowned archives at Hampton Court Palace.

The exhibition features surface designs such as appliquéd garments, wearable sculpture, 3-D stitched drapes and hangings alongside historic purses, collars and lacework - offering a rare opportunity to see the past revived in a contemporary fashion. Main Gallery. Free entry, open daily 10am-5.30pm
