A ‘night with the tigers’ for girls from Girlguiding South West England

Girlguiding South West England have teamed up with Dartmoor Zoological Society to provide its members with a once in a lifetime opportunity to have a sleepover at Dartmoor Zoo. Over 500 girls, ranging from 7-year-old Brownies through to Guides, Rangers and Young Leaders are due to sleep over at the zoo across dates in May, June and October. A further 270 girls, from the youngest 4-year-old Rainbows, through to Young Leaders and their Unit Leaders are coming for the day. The first two sleepovers will happen between 30 May and 1 June 2023.

On 18 and 19 February 2023, over 6,000 members, volunteers and families connected across the South West of England to celebrate World Thinking Day, a special day in the Guiding and Scouting Calendar, and ‘travelled’ the world together.

Celebrated since 1926, World Thinking Day is a day of international friendship. It is an opportunity to speak out on issues that affect young women and fundraise for 10 million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 150 countries. Exeter’s Scouts and Guides will be “Riding along on the crest of a wave” again this Easter as they take over the Barnfield Theatre from the 10th to the 13th April 2019 for this year’s Exeter Gang Show.

Bigger, brighter and louder than ever before, the 35thExeter Scout and Guide Gang Show is packed full of popular songs, dance and laugh out loud sketches and has everything to keep audience members of any age entertained.

Exeter Scouts and Guides will be “Riding along on the crest of a wave” again this Easter, as Exeter Gang Show returns to the Barnfield Theatre, Exeter from the 5th to the 8th April 2017.

Now in its 33rd year, the show will be packed full of popular songs, expert choreography and laugh out load sketches, and has everything to keep audience members of any age entertained.

The cast of almost 70 Cubs, Brownies, Scouts, Guides, Explorer Scouts, Rangers and Leaders aged nine and over have been rehearsing intensively since the beginning of the year.

Exeter Guides chosen as Community Fund finalists

Exeter Division Guides have been selected as finalists in RGB Building Supplies’ Well Built Community Fund - and it is now down to a public vote to see if they are chosen to receive £1,000 worth of building materials.

The Guides are currently refurbishing their Headquarters, Trefoil Lodge, which is located on Buddle Lane. As well as improving the kitchen and bathroom facilities, creating an outside soft play area and much more, Exeter Guides will also renovate three rooms for the local community to use for meetings, conferences and special occasions.

Hallowe'en tours with Exeter Red Coat Guides

Budding ghost hunters can get into the ‘spirit’ of Halloween this year by taking part in the ever popular Spooks and Broomsticks Tours.

Run by Exeter’s Red Coat Guides, these FREE guided walking tours take place on Thursday 29 October and depart from outside the Royal Clarence Hotel, Cathedral Yard, from 6.15pm, with the last tour departing at 7pm.
