Exeter’s Scouts and Guides will be “Riding along on the crest of a wave” again this Easter as they take over the Barnfield Theatre from the 10th to the 13th April 2019 for this year’s Exeter Gang Show.

Bigger, brighter and louder than ever before, the 35thExeter Scout and Guide Gang Show is packed full of popular songs, dance and laugh out loud sketches and has everything to keep audience members of any age entertained.

The cast of over 80 Cubs, Brownies, Scouts, Guides, Explorers, Rangers and Leaders from across Exeter and the surrounding areas are swapping their hiking and camping kit for the bright lights, make-up, glitz and glamour of showbiz.

This is not a show about Scouting and Guiding, as Co-Producer Dave Britton states: “It is a show by Scouts and Guides who are enormously talented and want to entertain you. You cannot help but be swept away by the enthusiasm and talent of these young people.”

Dave continued “We had absolutely amazing feedback after our 2018 show and this has spurred the cast and crew on to make the show even better. With the talent on show from our Scouts and Guides I don’t think anyone will be disappointed.”

The Gang Show is an eclectic mix of music, dance and comedy, boasting over 25 different songs, ranging from West End musicals, popular hits and traditional Gang Show favourites spread across 15 scenes. The music will feature classic numbers from musicals, right up to modern hits from Jesse Glynn, Adele and Selena Gomez. In between, there will be fast-paced sketches and dances.

Exeter Gang Show has been performing in the city every year for the last 35 years giving the opportunity for Scout and Guides to build confidence, learn new skills and make life long friends while showcasing what they can do in front of the local community.

This year's show is produced by local Brownie leader Helen Bryant and District Scouter Dave Britton. Putting the show together is a huge task, with a production team of over 40 volunteers getting to work pretty much as soon as the curtain fell on the hugely successful 2018 show last April to produce over 600 costumes, 10 different sets, over 200 props and preparing over 250 different lighting and sound effects.

“We are really excited about this year’s show and how the ‘Gang’ has really built in recent years” said Co-Producer Helen Bryant. “We have our biggest cast ever and with fantastic feedback from last year’s show we have been throwing everything at this year to put on another amazing show.  Now, with under a month to go excitement is really building and we can’t wait to get on stage.”

The show really is a great night out for all the family. Most of all it brings together all ages from Guiding and Scouting and the opportunity for them to perform on stage, enjoy the limelight and take away that buzz that you can only get from the roar of the crowd.

The Exeter Scout and Guide Gang Show will be at the Barnfield Theatre, Exeter from Wednesday 10th to Saturday 13th April. Performances start at 7.15pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.00pm. Tickets cost £10.00 or £8.00 for concessions. Tickets: 01392 271808 or online.
