For 2014 Brewin Dolphin will be working with designer Matthew Childs for whom this will be his first Chelsea appearance.

As part of the estate’s Victorian plant-hunting legacy, the garden showcases a variety of shrubs, trees and plants that produce colour through the seasons. Connaught Gardens in Sidmouth and Manor Gardens in Exmouth are still among the best in the country – and that’s official!

Tenants of East Devon District Council have again excelled themselves with a beautiful display of gardens large and small, leading to another highly successful garden competition, with a total of 41 entries.

This included two entrants for the Youth Garden, both of whom were Gold winners.

Scientists from the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and the University of Reading are asking anyone interested in gardens and gardening, whether allotment holders or those who enjoy visiting gardens, to take part in a unique survey designed to improve understanding of how climate change may affect gardens and green spaces in the future.

The information gathered will enable the RHS to gain valuable insights into gardeners’ awareness and expectations of climate change, in the light of the recent bitterly cold winters, record rainfall levels, floods, and severe droughts.
