The early May Bank Holiday weekend saw Exeter’s Northernhay Gardens and Castle Courtyard transformed into a foodie’s paradise as the 14th Exeter Festival of South West Food and Drink sprang up.

Crowds gathered to see hundreds of local producers, top chefs including Tom Kerridge, Michael Caines MBE, Simon Hulstone, Michael Wignall, Paul Ainsworth, Josh Eggleton and Mark Dodson, family activities, masterclasses and freshly cooked locally-sourced street food.

For the first time in its history, the festival ran on the Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday drawing thousands...

Thousands of foodies flocked to the 14th Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink 2017 this weekend including huge crowds on Sunday watching Tom Kerridge’s live demo.

Michelin-starred chef line-up announced for Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink

An all-star line-up of chefs has been confirmed for this year’s Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink including Tom Kerridge who will join festival co-founder Michael Caines MBE in the cookery theatre on the Sunday.

Seven Michelin-starred chefs are among the line-up this year, including Tom Kerridge, Michael Caines MBE, Simon Hulstone, Paul Ainsworth, Michael Wignall, Mark Dodson and Josh Eggleton, alongside a further 30 talented chefs demonstrating. The Taste of the Teign food and drink festival (19-25 September) is launching with a sprat to catch a mackerel this coming Monday (19th September) when twenty tonnes of freshly caught sprats will be landed at Teignmouth’s New Fish Quay ready to be sizzled and sampled by the public.

Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink is celebrating an exciting increase in the number of exhibitors it will be welcoming to its 13th festival.

The event returns to Exeter Castle and Northernhay Gardens in April, to bring the city its biggest annual food and drink festival to celebrate the very best of south west produce and producers as a not-for-profit initiative.

Volunteers wanted for Exeter Food Festival

Volunteers are wanted to help out at this year’s Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink which takes place from 22-24 April at Exeter Castle and Northernhay Gardens.

The annual event is Exeter’s largest city centre food and drink Festival with 100 regional producers signed up to take stalls in the Pavilion marquees.

Eight business people from around Exeter took part in the Kirk Hills Omelette Challenge, the second year that it’s run at the Exeter Festival of South West Food and Drink.

The Challenge was judged by Michael Caines MBE who showed the contestants how it should be done with a time of 28 seconds. Paul Nero from Radio Exe was compere for the event.

Keith Biggs from OTB Eveling was defending champion and looked like he would win again this year with the best time in the initial round. However there was an ‘egg off’ between Keith and the second fastest Chris Bentley from Exeter...
