Luscombe Maye were proud to support the seminar “The Way Ahead” on Thursday 21st April at The Great Hall, Seale-Hayne.

Weapons seized from Exeter home

Police have seized a number of weapons from a house in Exeter.

The find followed a complaint that a man had been assaulted in Ebrington Road, in the city.

The victim received a number of injuries to his face and forehead which required hospital attendance.

Police attended Ebrington Road in order to arrest a male in his 20’s in connection with the assault. During the course of the arrest attempt a suspected weapon was seen.

One of Devon and Cornwall’s leading law firms has recorded exceptional financial growth in a year also lit up by a Sunday Times award, as it reveals its year-end figures. Stephens Scown LLP, which has offices in Exeter, St Austell and Truro, saw its revenue rise by 18% to £17.85m for the year ended April 2016, up from £15.1m in 2014/15. Just Walk to school to raise funds for BHF

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is calling on parents and pupils alike to mark Walk to School Week by signing up to the charity’s fundraiser Just Walk to help raise money for life saving heart research.

Just Walk invites teachers, parents and children to put their best foot forward and challenge themselves to walk to school each day for a week between Monday 16 May and Friday 20 May.

Not only is walking a great way to start the day, it also encourages a healthy heart for children and parents.

The Jurassic Coast World Heritage Team has been awarded the Royal Geographical Society (with IBS – the Institute for British Geographers)’s 2016 Geographical Award.

Exeter School Chemists are bright sparks

Upper Sixth pupils at Exeter School took part in the Royal Society of Chemistry Olympiad with four Silver and eight Bronze prizes awarded.

The international competition was the 48th UK Chemistry Olympiad.

Conservation laws need reshaping to protect sea turtles

An illegal trade in marine turtles is continuing despite legislation and conservation awareness campaigns, a pioneering study has shown.

The study, conducted by researchers from the University of Exeter in the Cape Verde islands, 500 km off the West Coast of Africa, and one of the world’s leading nesting sites for the protected loggerhead species, found that the biological impact of the trade has been previously underestimated and that turtles are still being harvested and consumed.
