Valentine loves Silvia and Proteus loves Julia – but Proteus is fickle, and falls for Silvia too. When Valentine plots an elopement, Proteus betrays him and Valentine is banished and joins some outlaws in the forest. What are the chances that he’ll be pursued by Silvia, and Silvia by Proteus, and Proteus by Julia, and that all will be waited upon – after a fashion – by their servants Speed and Launce and even Launce’s dog, Crab?

Amadeus Orchestra 2016

Back in Exeter Cathedral for their much anticipated annual concert, the Amadeus Orchestra and Raphael Wallfisch bring one of England’s finest cello concertos to Exeter; Finzi’s masterpiece from his final years. Wallfisch has long been a major proponent of his work and has made several recordings of it. Malcolm Forbes- Peckham last played a piano concerto with Amadeus back in 2014 when they performed Mozart’s double and this year he performs Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue as well as the quasi- solo piano part of Stravinksy’s ballet Petrouchka. Philip Mackenzie conducts.

Northcott Theatre finds local Lost Boys

Exeter Northcott Theatre is delighted to announce that following a series of workshops and auditions, it has found 19 local young actors to play the parts of John and Michael and the Lost Boys in its magical Christmas show, Peter Pan.

Directed by Exeter Northcott’s Executive and Artistic Director Paul Jepson and designed by award-winning Ellan Parry, Peter Pan, an Exeter Northcott Theatre production, will run from Fri 2 December 2016.

The theatre was delighted with the response to its audition call, which included putting on extra sessions to cope with demand.

Exeter Junior School raises £1,700 for charity

Exeter Junior School pupils and staff were delighted to welcome Staff Nurse Bernard Langlois and Matron Lynne Forster from the Mardon Rehabilitation Centre to assembly on Monday 6 June. The Mardon Rehabilitation Centre nurses received a cheque for £427.95 and thanked the pupils for their donation. The money was raised as part of the Virgin Money ‘Make Your £5 Grow’ Independent Maths Project. The Mardon Rehabilitation Centre is one of three charities to receive a donation – Sports Relief and Cancer Research UK also received the same amount. Branscombe Festival returns

The village of Branscombe once again hosts some of the world’s top musicians with the fourth Branscombe Festival from Friday 29 – Sunday 31 July 2016.

The Branscombe Festival combines world-class musicians with an idyllic countryside setting. Over three summer days, leading classical and opera artists perform in the village’s most picturesque venues, with cream tea served on Saturday afternoon and a hog roast that evening.

The festival culminates in a free concert on Branscombe beach by the Camborne Town Band.

Trust nurse wins UK medal for Excellence

A nurse from Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust has won a Medal for Excellence, awarded for her professionalism and support for learners over the past 18 years.

Around 100 medals are given out annually in the UK and abroad, to recognise success amongst City and Guilds learners and tutors.

As a lecturer specialising in nursing, Tracey Gillard has helped almost 1,000 students achieve their NVQ/QCF award. Tracey has also supported seven health care assistants in achieving their own Medal for Excellence.
