On Sunday (26 June) Women’s Running magazine, Solgar Vitamins and its Women’s Running 10K race will be arriving in Exeter for the first time, promising a fun, friendly and supportive atmosphere at the picturesque Riverside Valley Park.

The race is expected to be filled with women of all ages and abilities taking to the start line.

To show support for this year’s Armed Forces Week (20-26 June), Specsavers Exeter will be hosting a day of fancy dress fun on Saturday 25 June to raise money for Blind Veterans UK (BVUK). A University of Exeter expert who brought to life the unusual romance between politician Benjamin Disraeli and his wife has won a prestigious literary prize for her work.

Dr Daisy Hay, Senior Lecturer in English Literature and Archival Studies in the Department of English, has won a 2016 Somerset Maugham Award for her book Mr & Mrs Disraeli – A Strange Romance.

The £2,500 award was presented at the Society of Authors annual Authors’ Awards ceremony in London yesterday.

Police investigating a fatal road traffic collision near Ottery St Mary are trying to trace the deceased man's next of kin.

Following formal identification, the man has been named as Robert Christopher Trott, 53, from Exeter.

Extensive enquiries have been carried out to locate Robert’s next of kin but so far have been unsuccessful.

Officers believe Robert has a brother in the Exeter or Plymouth area and are appealing for him or any other family members to get in touch.
