Proposals to extend Teign Estuary Trail

A public exhibition on proposals to extend the Teign Estuary Trail to Dawlish will be held later this month.

Devon County Council is currently exploring the next section of the Trail and how best to provide links through Dawlish.

The exhibition will be held at the Community Centre on Dawlish Strand, from 12noon to 7pm, on Friday 15 July.

Members of the public will have the opportunity to comment on a number of route options which are being considered and will be on display at the exhibition.

Stagecoach activities for Catch the Bus Week

Stagecoach South West is joining forces with sustainable transport group Greener Journeys to promote the benefits of bus use through the fourth annual ‘Catch the Bus Week’.

The campaign, which takes place from 4-10 July, aims to drive awareness of the benefits of taking the bus and encourage local people to make the switch from the car that week and consider leaving the car at home for some journeys in the future.

70/30 Campaign Promoted in Devon

WAVE Trust, a UK charity, is raising awareness in Devon with a new campaign to reduce child maltreatment by 70 percent by 2030.

More than 1 in 5 children in the UK will suffer significant abuse or neglect in their lifetime, with 90% of these receiving no support.

The 70/30 campaign aims to prevent the maltreatment of children by tackling the root causes, such as parental substance abuse, domestic violence and maternal mental health problems.

Early, effective support can help parents to overcome these problems and prevent harm before it happens.

10cc bring autumn tour to Exeter

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of their album Sheet Music, 10cc will be embarking on a theatre tour.

The band will be stopping at Exeter University’s Great Hall on the 24 September.

Led by the co-founder Graham Gouldman the band will perform two sets, the first half of the evening playing Sheet Music, and the second half performing the symbolic turning of the Vinyl album.

Hunt for fake policeman in Mid Devon

Police are investigating a theft and attempted burglaries carried out by a suspect impersonating a police officer.

This has been said to have taken place around 8.00pm on Tuesday 5 July, at a number of properties in Culm Haven, Uffculme, near Cullompton.

Police have attended and conducted house to house searches with a police dog after residents discovered a man attempting to enter their property on two occassions, in which the suspect claimed to be a poloice officer, and on one occassion is believed to have been caught leaving a property.

The new St Sidwell’s Point leisure complex will smarten up the area and bring huge benefits to local people and vistors, one of Britain’s top chefs has declared.

Timely political play to tour to Exeter Northcott Theatre

Broadcaster and writer Jonathon Maitland is to debut his new production Dead Sheep at Exeter Northcott Theatre.
