Exeter is looking bloomin’ marvellous thanks to a scheme to introduce wild flowers into everyday parts of the city. The Wild City project has seen Exeter City Council team up with Devon Wildlife Trust to encourage more nature into the city. This summer the scheme has paid dividends with roundabouts, parks and road verges breaking out in a riot of colour as the blooms of wild flowers enjoy the summer sunshine. The Otter Vale Art Society, OVAS, will be holding its 41st annual art exhibition at The Institute, Ottery St. Mary from the 4-12 August from 10:30-5:00 daily.

This year the society is supporting Hospiscare with proceeds from the raffle, which include generoulsy donated works of art from well known artists, of which Phil Creek and Ray Balkwill are contributors.

Cullompton dad Shane Peters is set to take on the Great West Run this October in aid of the Neonatal Unit at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital as a thank you for the care they provided his son Raife.
Raife was born at the RD&E in early 2017 and spent four weeks being cared for on the specialist Neonatal Unit because he had water on his lungs. Now that Raife is healthy and has been discharged from hospital, Shane and his wife Kerry are keen to give something back to the unit which helped save their son’s life.

Exeter Chiefs Head Coach Rob Baxter will be awarded an honorary degree from the University of Exeter after the rugby team’s stunning performance this season led them to become national champions.
