According to a recent UK travel survey collated by Great Western Railway (GWR), the residents of Exeter are some of the most spontaneous travellers in the UK with 81% revealing that their ideal weekend would involve a trip away. Charity auction to fix a leaky school roof in Mumbai

A Charity Auction will be held on 17th April at The Canopy in South Street, Exeter to raise money to fix the roof of a school for children living in the slums of Mumbai.

In October of last year Daniel Hiller, director of Vision ICT, worked with SlumAid and volunteered at a school in Sion, South Mumbai which was set up by the local charity Lok Seva Sangam (LSS). While there he experienced life and education as it is for children in the slums. Daniel had this to say about his time there:

More than 90 businesses have been given some stark facts about the possibility of cyber attacks on their computer systems. Exeter to train more of tomorrow’s doctors

The Government has granted permission for the University of Exeter Medical School to train an additional 88 Medicine students each year, in a major boost to the South West.

The additional numbers will mean more trainee doctors working in the region, and will bolster opportunities for Westcountry students to train in Medicine close to home. It will also mean an economic boost for Exeter and Truro, where the Medical School has campuses.

Waste and recycling collections suspended in Exeter

Due to the dangerous wintry conditions, Exeter City Council’s waste and recycling collections have been suspended today, Monday 19 March. Although most of the main roads are clear, pavements and side roads are slippery, which means a significant risk of injury to members of the public and the workforce. Refuse vehicles weigh 20 tonnes and the Council can't risk driving on unsafe roads. The Council plan to catch up with today’s missed collections on Saturday 24 March.
