From Goodrington formerly of North Devon passed away peacefully on Tuesday 30th September 2014 aged 98. Beloved wife of the late Charles Henry Essery much loved mother of Pamela, John and Angela and dear Grandma to John Janice Bryan, Jane, Lee and Gary, proud and loving Great Grandma to all her Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchild.

Suddenly on September 4th 2014 whilst on holiday in Jamaica, Alan aged 61 years of Heavitree, Exeter.

He will be sadly missed by sister Janis and brother-in-law lan, son Darren and future daughter-in-law Tara, son Daniel, daughter-in-law Wendy and grandsons Brooklyn and Bobby, daughters Kirsty, Faye and Naomi, nieces Harriet and Natalie and best friend Tom as well as his many, many other friends.

Exeter academics have secured two of seven research awards to explore the cutting edge relationships between the sciences and the arts and humanities.

The Innovation Awards funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) will enable Professor Adam Zeman, from the University of Exeter Medical School, to study the ‘Mind’s Eye’, the distinctively human ability to imagine. It will also enable English lecturer Dr Jason Hall to explore the competencies and skills needed for the construction of the early 19th century Latin Verse Machine.

Raising funds for Warm Little Feet

The Salvation Army Response Singers from Exeter recently gave a superb Harvest Concert at Sandford Congregational Church, which was well attended.

Their leader, Andrew Cutler told the congregation that he had recently visited Moldova, the poorest country in Eastern Europe. He showed them a harvest plaque which had been made by ladies and children in Moldova. Andrew brought back 25 plaques with him to sell and raise funds for the charity Warm Little Feet.
