Charity’s members save on eating out at Buffet City

An Exeter restaurant is offering members of Devon charity Devon in Sight a tasty 25 per cent off the cost of their meals.

Buffet City in George Street is also extending the offer to members’ friends, family and carers as long as they eat at the same time.

Dedicate a light for a loved one in the heart of Exeter

At this time of year, many people’s thoughts will be turning towards the past, particularly to memories of lost loved ones.

One way to honour the memory of a lost loved one is by dedicating a light on the Hospiscare Tree of Light which will be situated on Cathedral Green.

The Tree of Light will be on Cathedral Green in Exeter. The Tree will be shining with lights given in dedication and will be lit every evening at dusk. The Book of Memories can be viewed at each church during each of the services, for full details see below....

Exeter Morris men Workshop and Open Evening

Exeter Morris Men are inviting anyone who has ever considered having a go at Morris dancing to go along to their Open Evening at Ide Memorial Hall at 8pm on Thursday 25 October.

Now the dancing season has come to an end, the search is on to find more members to add to the thirty strong side and Exeter Morris would be especially interested to hear from younger dancers.

19 days to go until the Police and Crime Commissioner Elections

On 15 November, 37 police and crime commissioners will be elected in England along with four in Wales.

The PCCs, as they will be known, will be tasked with scrutinising their force and holding it to account. They will also set the budget, and hire and fire chief constables. The commissioners will be paid and are supposed to empower local people into having a say on how crime is tackled.

Winter preparations in place across Devon

Devon County Council is ensuring that communities are well prepared to keep Devon moving during any severe weather over the coming Winter months.

Devon has a network of 265 Snow Warden volunteers across the county – as more than 60% of towns and parishes in Devon have signed up to Devon County Council’s winter self-help Snow Warden initiative. The scheme is also currently being rolled out in Exeter where recognised community groups and residents’ associations who wish to be involved

Dream-A-Way all set for a fundraising frenzy

Exeter Round Table’s Annual charity fireworks display is being held at Westpoint again this year.

This spectacular event has grown to become the biggest fireworks display in Exeter, and taken on a new dimension since moving to Westpoint three years ago.

Expect a great fun night out for everyone with fairground rides, food and drink stalls and of course a spectacular fireworks display by Firemagic (UK) Ltd.

Gates open at 5.30pm, fireworks display starts at 7.30pm.
