The results from the Devon County Council elections have been announced, revealing that the Conservatives have retained overall control with 38 seats, a net loss of 3 and a 35.6% share of the vote. The Lib Dems have 9 seats, a net loss of 4 and a 15.9% share. Labour have 7 seats (all of which are in Exeter), gaining 2 seats and a 13.3% share. UKIP won 4 seats for the first time, and a share of 23.2%. Independents won 3 and the Green Party 1 seat.

Charity run returns to City Centre

After three years of running a course along the city's canal path, the Michelmores annual charity run is returning to the city centre on Tuesday 11 June 2013, and runners of all abilities and experience are now invited to enter.

The new route sees the celebrated 5km event start once again on Cathedral Green before passing the 1km mark in Princesshay and then taking the runners past the Guildhall Shopping Centre, back to the Northernhay memorial statue and on to Rougemont Gardens for a finish at Exeter Castle.

New recreation ground opens in Copplestone

A brand new recreation ground has got the village of Copplestone celebrating.

Residents and sports enthusiasts alike turned out in force to enjoy the Adam Stansfield Football Festival, which marked the official opening of the facility on Saturday 27 April.
