Councils in Exeter have vowed to work more closely together in an effort to tackle weeds in the city.
It was agreed at a meeting on Monday (22 September) between representatives of Devon County Council and Exeter City Council that a more joined-up approach was needed to address the issue.
Devon County Council (DCC) is responsible for the upkeep of highways in the city, including the treatment of weeds. For a number of years, Exeter City Council has been commissioned to carry out the spraying of weeds on behalf of DCC.

Exeter City Council will be carrying out door-to-door enquiries this month as part of a new electoral registration system.
This summer marked the launch of a new system of individual electoral registration.
In mid-July, 80 per cent of Exeter residents received a letter confirming that they had been successfully transferred to the new system.
The remaining 20 per cent, were sent a form asking for further information. These may be people who have recently moved, or changed their name, for example.

On Saturday 4 October at 7.30pm a concert of glorious music for choir and brass is to take place in the Methodist Church in Sidwell Street.
The music to be performed is by Venetian composers from the 16th– 17th centuries, including Gabrieli, Schutz and Monteverdi.
In true Venetian fashion, the different ‘choirs’ of brass instruments and voices will be positioned at various points in the church, making the most of the wonderful gallery and staircases and the fantastic acoustic.
