Visitors to Rugby World Cup 2015 will be greeted with world class customer service from businesses in Exeter and the Heart of Devon.

Exeter is hosting three rugby matches at Sandy Park in September and October, attracting international and VIP visitors to Exeter and the Heart of Devon.

Customer service training courses entitled Welcome to Exeter are being run from January to May by Purple Cloud Consultancy and Exeter City Council.

Police appeal after 87-year-old suffers life-threatening injuries in Exeter collision

An 87-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries after being in collision with a lorry in Exeter yesterday (19 January).

Police and emergency services were called to Topsham Road around 1.15pm after the elderly pedestrian was in collision with the HGV.

The woman, from Exeter, sustained a serious leg injury and was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

The driver of the 18-tonne truck, a 43-year-old man, was interviewed by police and has been released while police enquiries continue into the circumstances of the incident.

Exeter golf course to be redesigned

Exeter Golf and Country Club has secured funding from Charles Church, part of the Persimmon Group, towards the redesign of its golf course. The deal comes after two years of negotiations between the Club and housebuilder over how to ensure the safety of residents of Great Woodcote Park, a new housing development being built next to the golf course. The Club had been advised by two separate specialist golf architects that the houses were sited too close to the boundary, increasing the risk of golf balls leaving the course and causing injury or damage. With 26 Parish and Town Council projects funded in 2013-2014, the Parishes Together Fund is looking to allocate more money to local community initiatives.

For the third year running, East Devon District Council (EDDC) and Devon County Council (DCC) are inviting Town and Parish Councils to apply to their joint initiative – the Parishes Together Fund – for grants towards projects that will solve local community issues.

EDDC and DCC are again putting £1.10 per elector into the scheme. Each Town or Parish Council can then apply for up to £1.10 for every person in their parish...

Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service are encouraging you to ‘Register my appliance’ so your home is safer.

Did you know that only 36% of consumers register all of their large domestic appliances? This leaves thousands off the radar if a recall is required.

New research reveals just over a third of British purchasers currently register all of their appliances with the manufacturer, leaving many thousands of owners virtually untraceable if a safety repair is required.

Topsham Road in Exeter has been closed following a serious collision involving a pedestrian and a lorry.

Emergency sevices were called to the scene of the collision at around 1pm today.

The road has been closed between Countess Wear Roundabout and Burnthouse Lane.

Police have set up diversions at Barrack Road and Countess Wear, and buses are being diverted.
