Collision blocks Crediton Road

Crediton Road was blocked for some time today after a collision between a car and a bus at around 1pm (Friday 16 October).

Fire crews from Danes Castle used hydraulic cutting equipment to release a man from the car, who was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

One woman was also taken to hospital.

The road was blocked in both directions between Wreford’s Drive (Cowley Roundabout) and Sand Down Lane (Newton St Cyres.)

Council postpones contract to build school

Devon County Council has expressed its disappointment at having to postpone a contract to build a new primary school on the outskirts of Exeter.

Work on the Trinity Church of England Primary was due to start last month (Monday 7 September) but the County Council has now put the contract on hold pending agreement with the landowners regarding the site situated near to the Newcourt housing development. This follows protracted negotiations from which it has not been possible to reach agreement to progress the project in the immediate term.

Lloyd Barnes Accountancy Recruitment staged a Charity Quiz Night at Exeter Golf & Country Club, on 7th October, raising over £790 to their nominated charity, The Exeter Foundation.

Police plan for station closures

Devon and Cornwall Police plans to close police stations and offices across Devon and Cornwall in the next five years as the Force strives to save £29m from its current budget. In most cases closures would lead to the building of smaller, more cost effective facilities, or see police teams sharing facilities within their communities. Wanted: the voice of an angel

Following previous successful Chorister Open Days, Exeter Cathedral Choir is hosting a similar opportunity for children on Saturday 28th November 2015.

This is open to boys and girls between the ages of seven and nine who enjoy singing. It is a great chance for young people to be encouraged and coached by professional musicians in an inspirational setting.
