Exeter Volunteer Fayre returns bigger and better than ever!

Exeter’s Volunteer Fayre is set to return on Thursday, 23 March 2023, 10.30 – 2.30pm and promises to be bigger and better than ever!

The fayre, which takes place at Exeter Cathedral , is predicated to attract up to 400 visitors - double the number compared to last year.

It will bring together voluntary groups, charities and not-for-profit organisations all of which are looking to recruit new volunteers.

Entry to the Fayre is free and visitors will have the chance to find out more about the organisations exhibiting and the volunteering opportunities on offer....

Public exhibition events on walking and cycling improvements in Exeter

Proposals for the draft Exeter Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) will be on show to the public for two days next week.

Detailed route plans will be available to view at a public exhibition which will be held in the Ante Chamber at County Hall in Exeter from 11am – 7pm on Wednesday 15 March and Thursday 16 March. It’s an opportunity for people to see the plans up close and speak to members of the project team.

A vehicle leasing company says customers should be given the choice to speak with a female employee from enquiries through to sales.

The Devon based company, Carparison, are offering customers the option of speaking to a female member of the team in an effort to make customers feel more comfortable when doing business with the automotive industry.

Over 70 people have risen to the Fun A Day challenge in Exeter, and now you can see the results at Positive Light Projects in Sidwell Street on 18th-19th March.

The challenge was to create something every day for throughout February (draw, paint, photograph, colour, bake, whatever and then exhibit your creations at the special exhibition run by local residents Stephen Fisher and Ali Lucas. The initiative has won the support of Exeter University and Exeter City Council.

Exeter Scout and Guide Gang Show will be celebrating an amazing 40 years as it returns to the city this Easter.

Taking place from Wednesday 5th to Saturday 8th April at Isca Academy, Exeter Gang Show is packed full of popular songs, dance, comedy and laugh out loud sketches performed by Scouts and Guides from across Exeter and the local area.

The cast of 60 Cubs, Brownies, Scouts, Guides, Explorers, Rangers and their Leaders are coming together to mark 40 years since the very first Exeter Gang Show was performed back in 1983.

Devon Couple Hop To It for Gardening Extravaganza

The fur will be flying, in a good way, at one of Devon’s most-loved gardening events.

The Secret Gardens of Topsham, being held on June 11th, is a hugely popular event with residents and also draws hundreds of people to the town, taking advantage of a rare opportunity to see a wide range of hidden gem gardens.

These are usually private but their owners have agreed to throw open their doors to visitors for just five hours.

New Lord Mayor of Exeter nominated

Long-serving councillor Kevin Mitchell will become Exeter’s new lord mayor later in the year.

The Liberal Democrat member for Duryard & St James will take over the politically neutral, ceremonial role in May, after being officially nominated at an executive meeting on Wednesday [28 February].

Cllr Mitchell, who has been on the council for almost 20 years and served as deputy in 2008/09 and 2011/12, says it will be a “great honour.”

The University of Exeter and South West Water have marked the highest point of construction on a pioneering new facility, the Centre for Resilience in Environment, Water and Waste (CREWW) , at a Topping Out ceremony on Streatham Campus.
