How one folk musician and composer’s passion for the first music machine has seen him embrace the very latest 21st century music technology.
1. Painstakingly restore a 19th century 4ft high music box and reverse engineer the Victorian technology used to project music manuscript onto its 20” steel discs.
2. Write the first new music for Polyphon in 132 years and develop a computer programme that turns midi notes into concentric coordinates to manufacture brand new discs.

After almost 1,000 years of peace, Viking hoards are again amassing their forces for a show of strength in mid Devon.
But locals don’t need to be too alarmed, the Norsemen and women have an unlikely mission, the quest to find Thor’s hammer!
Silverton’s drama troupe, the Silverton Luvvies, is sharpening battle axes and honing their hammers up for a new musical saga – Norse by South West, or How Thor Lost his Hammer.

Saturday 12th March sees a new show of folk songs come to the Cygnet Theatre in Exeter, celebrating women from history.
The show is being curated by three of the team from Wren Music – Amy Wilson, Sarah Owen and Marilyn Tucker (pictured), and has already recruited a chorus of 30 women who are sure to make the evening extra special.
Although the arts organisation already runs five community choirs across the county, they spotted an opportunity to bring together a women-only singing group specifically to celebrate women’s history for international women’s day.
An extraordinary musical event is shaping up for a Westcountry Choir when they sing at the opening night of a world premiere Theatre show TINY HEROES at Exeter’s BikeShed Theatre next week.
Local folk choir Voices In Common have been invited to sing the opening three nights of a newly written theatre piece by award winning playwright Daniel Bye.
Daniel Bye who was last at The Bike Shed theatre with the phenomenal Going Viral, has been developing the world premiere of his new show Tiny Heroes, on our Devon Residency programme.

Isaac, who attended the launch with his parents, schoolteacher and his friend Alfie, won the opportunity to kickstart the build after winning a Devon-wide competition to answer the question “If you could build anything out of LEGO,...
Sale Sharks whipped up their own on-field version of ’Storm Imogen’ to wreak havoc on the high-flying hopes of Exeter Chiefs in the Aviva Premiership.
Undone on home soil by league leaders Saracens the week previous, Rob Baxter’s side crashed to a second successive league defeat as the Sharks delivered a telling first half bite that the Chiefs never really recovered from.
Johnny Leota, Nev Edwards and Mike Haley all crossed for tries during the opening 40 minutes for Steve Diamond’s side – and fly-half Danny Cipriani did the rest of the damage as he slotted a conversion and...
