PCC candidate hits out at Home Secretary

The Home Secretary is actively campaigning to erode the independence of the British Police, claims former Devon and Cornwall police chief Bob Spencer.

Mr Spencer, who is standing as an independent candidate in the Police and Crime Commissioner elections, has slammed Theresa May for her plans, which he claims will mean the loss of more police stations and more officers on the beat.

He said: “She is proposing to give the commissioner powers over the fire service, prisons, schools and probation.

Top artists celebrate final exhibition for Spacex before new move

An art exhibition examining the importance of bees will be the final exhibition at Spacex’s Preston Street gallery before the organisation relocates to embark on a new way of working.

Twelve top artists will be taking part in Honeyscribe Hive, which examines our ancient relationship with the bee. The project leading up to the exhibition has involved scientists, artists, writers, beekeepers and the public.

Tracey Bleakley, the CEO of Hospice UK today praised Exeter Hospiscare and the RD&E for their end of life care and the difference it makes to patients and their families.

This morning Tracey who leads the national charity representing hospices, was visiting Exeter Hospiscare’s Searle House Hospice and its team working at the RD&E. The Cathedral Library's copy of Shakespeare's Second Folio Edition will be on display in the Cathedral for a limited time only to mark the anniversaries of William Shakespeare's birth and death (baptised 26th April 1564, died on 23rd April 1616).

This copy of the second edition of 'Mr. William Shakespeares comedies, histories, and tragedies; published according to the true originall copies' was printed in 1632.

City centre based Exeter estate agency, Naomi J Ryan, made a special visit to St Leonards based Kinderkare Nursery in the run up to the Easter weekend.

Naomi and Vanessa from Naomi J Ryan visited Kinderkare’s Clever Crocs on 24 March as part of their efforts to be a part of the local community. This fun filled day at Kinderkare, which provides nursery care to those aged between 3 months and 5 years, included making Easter garden cakes, colouring in egg pictures and potato printing. They finished off the morning with an Easter egg hunt, prepared by Naomi J Ryan.

Above average clinical care at RD&E for ‘End of Life’ patients

The quality of clinical care for patients nearing their final hours or days at the RD&E is above the national average across a range of key indicators, according to End of Life Care Audit released on 31 March.

The 2015 audit, carried out by the Royal College of Physicians on behalf of NHS England, found that in the majority of cases RD&E clinicians had documented evidence clearly identifying End of Life patients in the hospital.

The audit also found that in more than 80% of cases, there was documented evidence that RD&E clinicians had given End of Life patients...
