Chiefs book their place in LV=Cup Final

Match report: Leicester Tigers 22 Exeter Chiefs 30

Exeter Chiefs remain on course to become the first-ever side to defend the LV= Cup after they saw off rivals Leicester Tigers in a pulsating encounter in the East Midlands.

Rob Baxter’s side booked themselves a final date against Saracens next Sunday having produced a dogged, yet determined display against their illustrious hosts.

Tongan duo Elvis Taione and Fetu’u Vainikolo both claimed a try apiece in the first half, whilst the metronomic boot of skipper Ceri Sweeney was good enough to keep the Tigers at bay for...

Chiefs' destiny in their own hands

Phil Dollman believes Exeter Chiefs have their seasonal destiny firmly in their own hands as they look to attack on three different fronts between now and the end of the campaign.

After four successive Aviva Premiership victories - the latest being a record-breaking 74-19 success over winless London Welsh - the Chiefs are not only sitting second in the league standings, but are nicely placed to also attack the latter stages of both the European Challenge and LV= Cups.

It was around this time a year ago that Rob Baxter's side collected their first-ever piece of major...

Exeter Chiefs fly half Henry Slade is included in the England squad preparing to face Scotland in the RBS 6 Nations clash on Saturday after Brad Barritt was ruled out of the reminder of the tournament.

The Devon-born 21 year-old, who has featured impressively at inside and outside centre for his club this term, replaces unlucky Barritt after the Saracens centre who suffered an ankle sprain against Wasps on Sunday.

With Sunday's Leicester Tigers vs Newcastle Falcons match also affecting the availability of players to train, Bath Rugby hooker Rob Webber comes in for Tom...

Chiefs side to face London Welsh

Ali Hepher says Exeter Chiefs will go “full bore” at ensuring this latest block of Aviva Premiership fixtures finishes on a high note.

Having notched up successive league wins over Newcastle Falcons, Harlequins and Bath to move to third in the current standings, the Devon club will now be looking to add the scalp of lowly London Welsh to their list of victims at Sandy Park today (3pm).

It’s certainly been an encouraging response from the Chiefs, who either side of Christmas lost four games on the bounce in the top flight.

However, buoyed by their first-ever league...

Chudley sets his sights on Welsh

Will Chudley had only just trooped off the Sandy Park pitch following a first-ever Aviva Premiership win over Bath, but already the Exeter Chiefs scrum-half was focusing his thoughts on the next task in hand.

The Chiefs clocked up their third successive top flight victory on Saturday, as 11 points from the boot of Henry Slade and Chudley's late try helped secure a 16-6 victory against their nearest and dearest.

Exeter's success helped to propel Rob Baxter's side back into the top three with just six rounds of domestic league action remaining.

And next up for the...

Exeter Chiefs 16 Bath Rugby 6 - Match report.

It had to happen one day, but Exeter Chiefs finally banished their ‘Bath hoodoo’ by defeating their local rivals in a pulsating Aviva Premiership encounter at a sold-out Sandy Park.

Having failed to defeat their nearest and dearest in nine previous top flight attempts, Rob Baxter’s men stood tall to claim a priceless victory that lifted them to third in the current standings.

Fly-half Henry Slade slotted three penalties for the home side, as well as converting Will Chudley’s all-important try, six minutes from time....

Baxter: Italian star has the X-Factor

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter believes new signing Michele Campagnaro can help add some additional ‘X-Factor’ to his side’s back division next season.

Having already bolstered his options with the recruitment of both Geoff Parling and Ollie Woodburn in recent weeks, Baxter has ventured a little further afield for his third new capture who joins from Rabo ProDirect 12 side Benetton Treviso.

As always, the Chiefs supremo and his coaching team have monitored Campagnaro’s performance for some time and having put together a detailed assessment of the Mirano-born back, they...

Chiefs book place in semi final

Match report: Dragons 32 Exeter Chiefs 37

Defending champions Exeter Chiefs booked their place in the last four of this season’s LV= Cup with this hard-fought victory away to Newport-Gwent Dragons.

Rob Baxter’s side ran in five tries on their way to victory in Wales through Adam Hughes, Fetu’u Vainikolo, Tom James, Sam Skinner and a Penalty Try, but they were made to fight all the way by the Welsh region who themselves ran in four touchdowns of their own during a points-filled second half.

It was no more than the Chiefs – whose other points came courtesy of former...
