Places filling up fast for half term football roadshows

Places are filling up fast for Exeter City’s Football in the Community children’s football roadshows during the May half term.

There will be three different events in Exeter, plus courses in Dawlish, Exmouth, Sidmouth, Crediton, Tiverton, Seaton, Feniton, Okehampton, North Tawton and Barnstaple.

Former City great to hold book launch at St James Park

Exeter City are delighted to announce that former midfielder Davie Gibson will be visiting the club shop at St James Park on Wednesday 5 June for a book signing, to celebrate the release of his biography: Gibbo – The Davie Gibson Story. Davie will be available to meet and sign autographs between 5pm and 6pm at his Exeter City book launch. Gibbo’s former teammate Alan Banks will also be in attendance, with other special guests to be confirmed. Ability Counts team in need of a driver

Exeter City’s Ability Counts team require someone to drive the team minibus on Sunday 19 May, as they prepare to play their final fixture of the season.

The volunteer will be required to donate a large part of their day to help the team. They will need to collect the minibus from St James Park at 8.15am and drive to Tavistock (via King George V Playing Fields on Topsham Road) and will return at approximately 4pm. Someone that is willing to donate their time to help Exeter City’s Ability Counts team – and perhaps volunteer additionally at the event – would be welcomed.

Exeter City receive Family Excellence Award from the Football League

Exeter City are delighted to announce that the club has been awarded the Family Excellence Award by the Football League. The announcement was made at St Andrew’s, the home of Birmingham City, on Wednesday 8 May. Each of the 72 Football League clubs receives two visits a year from a mystery family who judge the club on more than 70 supporter touch-points on a matchday. Exeter City’s Football in the Community Trust is once again running a full programme of popular children’s football roadshows during the May half term, following the success of the Easter events which were attended by around 500 children from across the region.

Exeter City looking for more 16-19-year-old futsal players to join BTEC scholarship programme

Fancy running out on to the pitch at St James Park? Now's your chance.

We are offering all potential futsal scholars the chance to come along to a training session at Exeter City FC on Tuesday 30 April, which will be your final chance to work with our coaches and learn more about our BTEC Futsal and Education programme.

The programme is open to all current Year 11 and 12 students age 16-19 (male and female) who wish to find out more about the course, which is a full-time, two-year Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sport - equivalent to three A Levels.

Exeter City’s 2012/13 campaign came to a disappointing end at the Proact Stadium, as hosts Chesterfield ran out 4-0 winners.

New education programme gets a Kick Start from Exeter City

Exeter City FC’s Football in the Community Charitable Trust is to pilot a new three-year learning engagement project, Kick Start, in conjunction with ATASS Respect, to work with children attending schools in the Exeter area.

The programme aims to support 30 children each year who may be at risk of disengaging from education for various reasons. Those who will be invited on to the programme will have shown a capacity to respond to alternative methods of learning, but could be vulnerable to low levels of academic achievement.

Two goals on his full debut by Jamie Reid helped Exeter to a 2-2 draw away to AFC Wimbledon in front of a record crowd at Kingsmeadow.
