Following the completion of the group stages of the Leasing.com Trophy, Exeter topped their group after winning all three of their matches, including a 3-1 victory at home to West Ham U21s in the final group fixture.

Recalled from a successful loan spell with Weston-Super-Mare, 20 -year old striker Joel Randall made his first appearance of the season for the Grecians, and he took his chance, netting twice to help take Exeter City through to the round of 32.

Match report: Bradford City 2 City 0

Exeter City slipped to their third away defeat on the spin in an action-packed game at Bradford City.

The Grecians were reduced to nine men in the 2-0 loss, with both Jake Taylor and Tom Parkes seeing red, while the hosts also had a man sent-off, Callum Cooke, for two bookable offences.

That ill-discipline will have been an annoyance to manager Matt Taylor as well as some sloppy defending that saw them fail to deal with routine balls into their box for Bradford’s first and second goals.

The City manager kept with the same starting XI that had beaten Plymouth so...

Exeter City fell to a heavy defeat away at Cambridge United as they were beaten by four goals to nil at the Abbey Stadium.

The Grecians started the match slowly and gave away the ball too often in midfield in the first half as they went into the break deservedly behind. However, City began the second half with purpose and almost got back into the match before Cambridge United hit them with a sucker-punch just before the hour, with their second goal, and then added two more on the break.

Match report: Crewe Alexandra 1 Exeter City 1

It was a case of two points dropped for Exeter City at Gresty Road as we were held to a 1-1 draw by Crewe Alexandra.

The Grecians took an early lead when Dean Moxey converted an Archie Collins cross to the back post after only two minutes but, following a host of missed first half chances, Crewe Alexandra got back into the game second half and equalised through substitute Chuma Anene.

Manager Matt Taylor named an unchanged side for the third league game in succession, while Crewe made two changes bringing in Owen Dale and Olly Lancashire for Perry Ng and Dan Powell....

The Grecians went ahead late in the first half through Pierce Sweeney's first goal of the season, before Lee Angol quickly brought Orient level just before the break.

Louis Dennis then saw his shot deflect off Aaron Martin and up in the net just after the restart, but Law calmly converted late on to continue City's unbeaten start to the league campaign.

Exeter City 1 Mansfield Town 0

Ryan Bowman’s early goal earned Exeter City a 1-0 win at St James Park over Mansfield Town in the Sky Bet League Two.

Manager Matt Taylor made just the one change to his starting XI from Morecambe with now-joint top goalscorer, Nicky Law, temporarily sidelined with injury, allowing Matt Jay to come into the lineup in his place.

The game, as expected, was end-to-end for the entirety of the first-half with both sides having a plethora of chances.

It was the Grecians who took the lead inside five minutes, after a quick throw-in from Dean Moxey and an...
