Following the completion of the group stages of the Leasing.com Trophy, Exeter topped their group after winning all three of their matches, including a 3-1 victory at home to West Ham U21s in the final group fixture.

Recalled from a successful loan spell with Weston-Super-Mare, 20 -year old striker Joel Randall made his first appearance of the season for the Grecians, and he took his chance, netting twice to help take Exeter City through to the round of 32.

Speaking on Exeter’s ambitions for the tournament, Joel commented: “We’re fourth in the league at the moment and this is another first team game that we want to win and have another positive dressing room. In football, if you’ve got momentum and you’re winning games there is nothing better.

Talking on the importance of the Leasing.com Trophy for his own development, Joel added: “I’ve been enjoying my football and I took that confidence from being on loan into the first team game and managed to get on the scoresheet. In the Leasing.com Trophy you are playing against strong opposition and Oxford are a league above us so it will be a good test for me to play against League One players and see where I am.”

Exeter City welcome Oxford United to St James Park on Wednesday 4th December, with Randall looking to add to his brace in his last Leasing.com Trophy appearance.
