Research has found that Exeter City football club is languishing at the bottom of the table for hometown fan loyalty, coming in at 80th out of the 92 teams.

Using Google keyword data, Plusnet looked into where in the UK holds the most loyal home town fans by tracking how many supporters searched for their team from the local County.

The data revealed that Exeter City falls down when it comes to home-town searches with only 2.7% of the searches for all clubs in the league being for the local club. In contrast, local rivals Plymouth Argyle fared a lot better coming 19th with...

Tis positive despite defeat

Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale highlighted the positive aspects of his side's play, despite losing 2-0 to Plymouth Argyle.

The Devon derby at St James Park saw City go down to first half goals from Graham Carey and Paul-Arnold Garita, in match where the Grecians hit the post through Lee Holmes and Robbie Simpson saw a first half header fly just over the crossbar.

Despite City's best efforts through the likes of Holmes, who returned from injury, as well as the impressive Jack Stacey at right back, they weren't able to break a resolute Pilgrims defence.

City return on the cards for Reid

Exeter City have signed striker Reuben Reid, subject to Football League and FA approval.

The 28-year-old forward, who was a free agent having left Plymouth Argyle in the summer, says it was a chance to link up with manager Paul Tisdale that convinced him to put pen to paper on a contract at St James Park.

The Bristol-based player has been attracting lots of interest from League One and Two clubs, since leaving Home Park, but says it was after a chat with Tisdale on Sunday that he made up his mind.

“I have been in talks with a few teams, but I met the manager (Paul...

Away defeat for City

Exeter City fell to their second away defeat of the League Two season as they were beaten 2-0 away at Crewe Alexandra.

City manager Paul Tisdale made two changes from the team that beat Colchester United 3-2 last time out, with Luke Croll missing the game through illness and Ethan Ampadu dropping to the bench. That meant Connor Riley-Lowe came in at left back and Joel Grant started up front.

Contentious penalty costs Exeter City

Contentious penalty gives Portsmouth all three points at St James Park. A contentious penalty from Gary Roberts saw Portsmouth take all three points from St James Park on Saturday. The veteran striker slammed home the spot kick in the 85th minute after Pierce Sweeney had been adjudged to have pushed Kal Naismith in the box.

However, the City players were less than pleased with the decision, with Sweeney booked for his protests.

Exeter City out of EFL cup

Jake Taylor scores a stunning goal as Grecians exit EFL Cup to Premier League Hull City. Two goals from Adma Diomande and a Ryan Snodgrass free-kick saw Exeter City knocked out in the second round of the EFL Cup 3-1 at the hands of Hull City. A battling performance from the Grecians saw them go toe-to-toe with the Premier League side for the much of the match, but were undone by some smart finishing from the Tigers.

Diomande, the only player who looked likely to unlock the City defence, got two goals either side of half-time from close range, and substitute Snodgrass finished well...

Heritage event and talk at St James Park

Share your Exeter City stories and memorabilia and learn a bit about the early history of St James Park.

On Saturday 27 August, ahead of the Portsmouth match, some of the team working on the Heritage Lottery Fund supported History of St James Park Project will be in the Grecian Centre to hear from fans about their own memories and experiences of the stadium.

There will also be some historic ECFC objects on display and fans are invited to bring their own objects, in a kind of Antiques Roadshow style.

Then at 1pm, Aidan Hamilton, the author of ‘Have you Ever Played...

Exeter City 1 Hartlepool Utd 2: Match report

Exeter City could not build on an impressive cup win over Brentford on Tuesday as they fell to a 2-1 defeat at home to Hartlepool United on Saturday.
