Exeter City Council are providing drop off sites for Exeter residents to take their real Christmas trees for recycling this weekend (Saturday 10 January and Sunday 11 January 2015).
The trees will be shredded and used in the city's parks or sent for composting just outside Exeter.
Trees put out for normal rubbish or recycling collections will not be collected.
Landlords of houses of multiple occupation (HMOs) in Exeter still have time to take advantage of discounted licensing ahead of changes to new legislation set to be introduced in February.
Exeter City Council is offering a series of discounts for landlords affected by the new legislation, to those who register their properties before 15 January, undertake a training course or are part of a recognised landlords' association.
In November Exeter City Council approved an extension of its licensing for HMOs following a lengthy period of public consultation.
People in Exeter are being given the chance to quiz councillors on any “burning” issues for the city.
Exeter residents are invited to put forward questions to members of the joint County and City Councils' Exeter Board, at their next meeting on 15 January at 5:30pm at the Civic Centre in Paris Street. The Board allocates 15 minutes for their ‘open forum’, with 3 minutes per speaker, with a maximum of three to four speakers to allow time for discussion.

A new swimming pool and leisure centre for Exeter took a step closer last night (Tuesday 16 December) with the approval of £19.4 million to cover the cost of the project.
The funds were signed off at a meeting of Exeter City Council and along with the appointment of a design company due to be announced soon, represents real momentum as the project drives forward alongside the Bus Station redevelopment by Crown Estates and TIAA Henderson Real Estate.

More than 4,000 people have taken part in Exeter City Council's 'Stronger Exeter' budget consultation.
Council Leader Pete Edwards said he was overwhelmed by the response from the public.

Anyone spending £10 or more in participating small businesses this Saturday (6 December) will be issued with a parking permit allowing them to double their stay next time they come into Exeter.
