The Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) has shared its concern ahead of the festive period as it launched its Don’t Drink and Drown campaign on Monday 21 November.

Statistics from the Water Accident Incident Database (WAID) from the National Water Safety Forum for accidental drownings between 2017-2021, show that the South West ranks third in the UK for the highest number of alcohol/drug related drownings in 16-25 year olds.

Police are urging revellers in the South West to be on their best behaviour as figures show one in three violent crimes on the region’s railway last Christmas were alcohol-related.

Our officers arrest more people for violent and public order offences at this time of year than for any other type of incident, with 73 such crimes being recorded in the South West.

Of those offences, nearly a third were alcohol-related, and officers are now carrying out extra patrols and encouraging passengers to keep a clear head in a bid to reduce the national rise in violence seen on the rail...

With the Easter holiday period drawing to a close many of us will be fitting back into our usual routine of waking up, getting ready for work, some of us rushing to get the kids ready for school and flying out the door desperate to avoid being late.

It seems that many of us, in a bid to shave off precious time from our journeys, speed up in the car naturally putting ourselves, and other drivers, at risk.

A recent survey by insurance company ingenie into British people’s driving habits has revealed that 45% of us speed in our cars because we are late. This was followed...

Molto Delizioso at Bella Italia!

This week my dining companion and I were fortunate enough to be invited to the launch of the new menu at Bella Italia in Queen Street, Exeter. I was particularly excited about this having enjoyed my precious visit so much.

Again, we were warmly welcomed by our previous Italian waiter, Manuel and an extremely friendly and highly professional manager called Mykolas. Good staff count for a lot these days, and I have to say, Bella Italia are extremely lucky to have such good staff working for them.

The new menu tasting involved a set menu of new dishes accompanied by a drink of...

Your pet may have a drink problem!

With summer in full swing, pet owners from Exeter show a surprising lack of awareness when it comes to their pet’s hydration and are happy to let them drink puddle water, milk and even the nation’s favourite brew – tea. A survey carried out by pet product expert, PetSafe®, to raise awareness about the importance of pet hydration, has found that over 6 in 10 (60%) of Exeter pet owners are unclear about how much water to give their pets to drink. Most worryingly, the survey revealed that over half of Exeter pet owners (55%) wouldn’t know how to tell if their pet was dehydrated. Further...
