Who was Fagin? Was he the Fagin in Dickens’ Oliver Twist? Was he the Fagin in Oliver! the musical? Was he based on a real-life character?

Join Fagin as he reviews his situation during his final night in prison before being hanged. As madness envelopes him he is ‘visited’ by some old friends. Find out who he really was and how he ended up as one of the best known, yet unknown, of Dicken’s characters.

Humbug! Raising the bar with a new Christmas show

Humbug! Brand new Christmas show set to delight audiences in Exeter's newly re-opened St Nicholas Priory.

Award-winning film and theatre company, Wandering Tiger, are staging Humbug! their brand new Christmas show at Exeter's historic St Nicholas Priory from Thursday 14 – Sunday 24 December 2017.

Inspired by Charles Dickens’ classic ghost story ‘A Christmas Carol’, Humbug! will be the first public event to take place in over two years in the recently restored medieval priory, which is just off Exeter's Fore Street.

After two sold-out shows, Untold Theatre returns to Cygnet Theatre.

The year is 1867 and, aboard the SS Cuba, Charles Dickens set sail for his final tour of America. During his journey, the renowned author becomes plagued with guilt-ridden visions and visitors from the spirit world. Figures from his life appear alongside characters from his stories. These spirits return to guide (and taunt) him. As reality blurs into fiction, the author is compelled to revisit the sins of his past. But this is no tale of redemption....

In Charles Dickens’ beloved novel ‘Great Expectations’ we share in Pip’s adventures. ‘Beyond Expectations’ revisits the novel this time placing Estella in the centre of the action.

We follow her journey from childhood to adulthood. Born to a passionate Gypsy mother – then adopted by Miss Havisham – Estella’s childhood is haunted by an abandoned, decaying wedding feast.

As Estella becomes more beautiful, her heart grows ever more hard and cold. Her adult life of wealth and emptiness leads to a brutal loveless...
