Volunteers knit 1,500 cupcakes for Exeter panto

Back in July, the Northcott Theatre in Exeter appealed for volunteers to knit 1,000 cupcakes to be used in performances of our pantomime Dick Whittington.

The show, co-written by leading panto director Tony Lidington with Steve Bennett, who plays Dame Sarah Suet, marks a return to panto for the first time in eight years at the Northcott.

Knitters across Devon answered the call and surpassed expectations by downloading the Dick Knittington pattern and producing an amazing 1,456 of the woolly fancies.

Exeter Northcott Theatre is appealing for knitters to help prepare for its Christmas pantomime.

The theatre would like volunteers to create knitted cupcakes that can be used during the 60 performances of Dick Whittington, which takes place from Saturday 2 December until Sunday 7 January.

As a thank you for the support the Northcott hopes to receive through the appeal, it has teamed up with Home-Start Exeter and Devon & Cornwall Housing Association to offer 500 free pantomime tickets to families who may not be in a financial position to come to the theatre this Christmas...

Exeter Northcott Theatre is delighted to announce its 2017 Christmas show will be the traditional family pantomime Dick Whittington.

The show will see a spectacular return to the Exeter Northcott tradition of producing its own pantomimes.

Steve Bennett returns as the Dame, a role he played previously at the Northcott for 14 years, and will be directed by one of the country’s leading pantomime directors, Tony Lidington.

Great family entertainment - written by Katie Jones, it follows the fortunes of Dick Whittington who meets some unusual characters in his travels.

This is the sixth pantomime performed by Broadclyst Theatre Group and every year the shows get slicker, funnier and more colourful.

Come along to the Victory Hall (opposite the church) and join us for lots of fun and laughter.

Thurday 26 January at 7.30pm, Friday 27 January at 7.30pm, Saturday matinee at 2.30pm and Saturday 7.30pm.
