Bampton Library announces official opening date

Bampton Library has confirmed it will open the doors to its new library, based in the Library and Resource Centre in the Old Schoolroom, on Monday 20th March.

Libraries Unlimited, the charity responsible for the running of all Devon’s libraries, has also confirmed there will also be an official opening on the morning of Thursday 6th April from 10am, with all local residents’ welcome.

The Library will close temporarily on Thursday 16th and Saturday 18th March in order to allow for the much-anticipated relocation, opening again on Monday 20th at 3pm when visitors will be able...

4,199 pupils across 14 schools in the Exeter area have already signed up to support WWF’s Earth Hour.

In fact, in the last five years alone, over two million pupils aged 7 to 14 across the UK have taken part in the world’s largest demonstration of support for action on climate change.

With more schools than ever before getting involved this year, including St Sidwell's CE Primary School & Nursery, The Maynard School and Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education, the 10th anniversary of Earth Hour is set to be the biggest yet.

People across Devon are being encouraged to take part in Ride to Work Week next week (Monday 13 March to Sunday 19 March).

Sidmouth to get new outdoor sports facility

A joint project run between Sidmouth Town Council and East Devon District Council will soon see Sidmouth getting a new sports facility, as work is due to start in Spring 2017 on a new outdoor multi-use games area for the town.

Sidmouth residents originally had their say on how to spend £250,000 on outdoor sports in the town a few years ago – seven projects were successful – most of which have happened now. Stagecoach has announced that tickets for single journeys on Falcon are available for pre-purchase from Bristol Airport’s new onward transport kiosk.

Devon design firm lands contracts at opposite ends of the British Isles

Creative design and digital agency Toucan has announced it has new contracts for clients at both ends of the British Isles – despite being based in the South West.

The Diocese of Aberdeen and Orkney is nearly 900 miles from the Duchy of Cornwall on the Isles of Scilly, but distance is not getting in the way of delivering two major projects.

A series of improvement works were undertaken and the 115+ mile route, linking two coasts and the South West’s two National Parks, re-launched to celebrate this milestone.
