19 medals and two national finalists for Honiton Gymnastics Club

One after the other Honiton gymnasts stepped onto the podium to collect honours at the weekend, as 19 partnerships medaled at the annual South West Prelims competition.

The competition was held at King Edmund International Gymnastics Centre in Yate, near Bristol.

Among the medalists were four Honiton gold medal partnerships, two of which have now qualified to represent the South West at the National Development Plan finals at Stoke-on-Trent in May.

Off to the finals – where they will compete against the best from 12 other UK regions – are Oscar Felice and Logan...

A PAIR of PANDA parents are marking Mothering Sunday by launching a competition to find the face of their cheeky panda cub.

Julie Chen and Chris Forbes, also known in fun as Mum and Dad Panda are launching a competition to find a child to be the model face of their award-winning Essex-based business, The Cheeky Panda.

The Cheeky Panda makes 3-ply bamboo toilet paper. This means rather than using traditional toilet paper or recycled toilet tissue (which uses de-inking chemicals that can cause potential health hazards), people in the UK will now be able to purchase toilet...

Legal profession unites to Walk for Justice

The local legal profession and advice sector are joining forces on Monday 5th June 2017 from 5pm to take part in the Exeter Legal Walk.

The Legal Walk is one of over 30 similar events which run across England and Wales. The sponsored walk raises funds for local free legal advice charities in Exeter and throughout the South West region. Teams from local law firms, chambers and in-house legal teams are expected to come together along with local judges to support local advice services such as Citizens Advice and Law Centres.

Off-road mobility Tramper named

Following a competition and public vote, the East Devon District Council Countryside team are pleased to announce that the winning name of the Seaton Wetlands off-road mobility tramper is the Wetlands Wanderer.

The competition to name the vehicle received over 50 entries. The Countryside team narrowed this down to their top ten and opened the competition up to a public vote. Over 70 people voted for their favourite name.

The winning name which was suggested by three people was the Wetlands Wanderer! The name was announced on March 12th in celebration of Disabled Access Day...

Exeter City season ticket prices frozen

Exeter City are delighted to announce that the price of super saver season tickets for the 2017/18 campaign have been frozen.

As ever, supporters are rewarded for committing early. Adults can save up to £115 on matchday prices, when they purchase their season ticket before 5pm on May 15, while under-18s can watch the Grecians for as little as £4 a game with under-12s priced at just £2 per match.

This remains one of the lowest prices of admission in the Football League for people under the age of 18, while adults get the equivalent of five games for free in the IP Office...

Freemasons give £7,500 to aid needy in Devon

Devon Freemasons have donated £7,500 to Devon Community Foundation to help support people in need across the county. Last week the Chief Executive DCF, Martha Wilkinson was delighted to be presented with the cheque by Ian Kingsbury, the Provincial Grand Master of Devonshire Freemasons.

The generous gift brings the total donated over the last 4 years to £27,000 and will be allocated to the Foundation’s Community Grants, supporting hundreds of voluntary and community groups offering local people in need a helping hand.

Earlier in March, Hospiscare was delighted to welcome a ‘sell-out’ crowd of men and boys, who joined the Hospiscare Charity Men’s Walk 2017, walking 8 miles in the fine weather along the canal path from Double Locks to the Turf Hotel and back again, to enjoy a pint, a Chunk pasty and watch England beat Scotland to retain the Calcutta Cup.
