Devon County Council marks Europe Day 2013

Devon County Council will be raising the European flag at County Hall to mark international Europe Day. The ceremony will take place at 12.30pm on Thursday 9 May.

Exactly 63 years ago the French Foreign Minister, Robert Schuman, took the first steps in a speech that held out a hand of friendship to Germany, towards the creation of the European Economic Community, which developed to become the European Union.

More children offered first choice of school by DCC

More Devon children have been offered a place at their first choice secondary school for this September. 97 per cent of the families which applied to Devon County Council have been offered their first choice school compared with 93.7 per cent for last year. Altogether, 6,091 children have been offered places in Devon schools with a further 464 being offered places in other local authority schools.
