A zoo might not be the first place you think of when it comes to Christmas shopping, but the Living World shop at Paignton Zoo is brimming with Fair Trade products, quality ethical gifts and the sort of quirky local items that make great Christmas gifts. Plus, you don't need to pay Zoo entry to browse and there’s plenty of free car parking!

Pinhoe Guides Christmas Shopping Extravaganza

Pinhoe Guides are holding a Christmas shopping evening on Friday 21 November.

Twenty tables will be selling various items including jewellery, craft items, Christmas decorations and cards for sale along with mulled wine, nibbles and mince pies.

There will be a raffle towards the end of the evening. All the stallholders have donated a prize, and we have a couple of other competitions during the evening.

All the money raised will go towards the Pinhoe Guides' trip to Switzerland in August 2015.

Help Africa - eat chocolate

A Devon charity is raising money this Christmas by selling a very special chocolate.

Paignton Zoo, a registered education, science and conservation charity, is believed to be one of the first zoos in the UK to stock Madecasse Chocolate, made from the finest Madagascan cocoa.

Paul Bellingham, of Paignton Zoo, said: “This is really special, as most chocolate is processed outside Africa. It’s a perfect product for us to sell – made from shade-grown cocao, harvested without damaging natural forest habitat, it generates jobs and money for local people in a developing economy....

Late night vintage bargains at Hospiscare

Hospiscare's two city centre shops will both be open for late night shopping in the run-up to Christmas The stores, in Fore Street and Sidwell Street, will stay open until 8pm on Thursday nights and both will also be opening on Sundays. Fore Street, where there is a very popular vintage section in the basement, will open from 10am until 4pm and Sidwell Street, which is opposite John Lewis, from 10:30am until 4:30pm.

Christmas Late night opening in Crediton

A late night shopping evening, organised with the support of nearly all the town’s shops and other businesses, the Chamber of Commerce and the Crediton Courier will take place until 8pm on Friday 7th December.

Many shops will be providing drinks and nibbles. The Crediton Town Band and Mellow D will be performing at various locations around the High Street.

Santa will make an appearance in Evans newsagents and pubs and restaurants will also be open.

Visitors can also visit Crediton Parish Church where, until 6pm, the Christmas Tree Festival will be taking place...
