Lord Mayor thanks Exeter Philharmonic Choir for its fundraising

Members of Exeter Philharmonic Choir, which has recently raised money for the Lord Mayor's charity SSAFA Devon, attended a special reception and cheque presentation at the city’s Guildhall last week.

The event was to thank all the organisations who have contributed to a grand total of over £23,000 for SSAFA Devon, which provides practical and emotional support for serving personnel, veterans and military families. A collection held at Exeter Philharmonic Choir’s concert in March raised £726.66 for the charity.

Independent charity Devon Communities Together has announced a new partnership with Dartmoor Brewery, which will see the two Devon organisations working together to raise money to support communities throughout the county.

This year will once again see Hospiscare teaming up with local residents who are gladly opening their gardens in support of what is now a favourite staple in the charity’s calendar. Mansion competition targeted for the 2nd time in 3 months

In the space of three months, the family behind the Millionaires Mansion competition have fallen victim to multiple targeted arson attacks as a result of their bid to raise funds for charity and local communities.

Back in February, fire crews were called to a bridge over the M5 at Junction 28 near Cullompton in Devon to put out a fire which was raining burning debris onto the motorway, wreaking havoc and causing drivers to swerve out of its path.

Saturday 6 July will be a BIG day in Exmouth for local charity Hospiscare . Exmouth and Lympstone Hospiscare will be holding their Family Fun Day at Manor Gardens from 10am – 4pm with live entertainment and lots of fun activities. Having had a great day with the whole family it will then be time for the mums, nans and aunties to don their pink tutus and bunny ears (not compulsory) and head on down to The Maer for either the Twilight Walk or 5K Fizz Run in aid of Hospiscare.

An exciting new event comes to Devon for the first time later this year when Hospiscare hosts Wild Tri, and its big brother, Wild Tri Extreme.

This will be a wild take on a triathlon, and promises to be an exhilarating experience that will challenge hard-core extreme event enthusiasts, as well as novices and those who like their events just a tad less challenging. The event will take place near Okehampton on 14 September, allowing plenty of time for preparation.

Hospiscare Men’s Walk raises £67,000 with money still rolling in!

Instead of snow, it was high winds and rain that tested the ever growing band of men who took part in Hospiscare ’s Men’s Walk this year. Just under 1000 resilient men signed up for the challenge, making it Hospiscare’s most successful Men’s Walk to date.

The weather conditions were again challenging but spirits were high as the walkers set off from the Double Locks pub. Along the route they were buoyed by an amazing team of dedicate volunteers offering support and encouragement.
