Last Saturday (7th June) saw a whole host of bloggers descended on Exeter to take part in the South West Blog Social. The event, run by local bloggers Jodie Dewberry (@alajode) and Albertine Brandon (@dippywrites) brought together over 50 bloggers for a day of fun and girly pampering at Oddfellows Bar, New North Road.

A charitable fund in the memory a Devon woman killed in a car crash while on a round-the-world cycle challenge has passed its £10,000 target. Friends and family of Sharon Bridgman raised more than £11,500 in her memory after she was struck and killed in by a car in Bolivia in April. A collaborative effort between four Exeter based businesses is aiming to get a team of at least 12 walkers to the top of the highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales within a 24 hour period.
The group comprises participants from chartered accountants Francis Clark who are providing refreshments for the teams; property consultants Edward Symmons who are in charge of maps and other specialist kit; Ashfords Solicitors who have arranged a fund-raising website page and Barclays Bank who have arranged the transport.

A top local artist has come to the English Riviera to paint a gorilla in public.
Cleo Heard is painting the life-size figure between Monday 26th and Friday 30th May, during half term. She is working in the entrance hall of Living Coasts, on the quayside, where people can watch her progress.
Last year Cleo painted the popular Bananarilla for the Great Gorillas Project. Her design for this gorilla uses the Living Coasts penguin logo in a striking all-over pattern. She has dubbed this gorilla Penguilla.

On Monday 19 May, Ashfords staff made their way to Canonteign Falls, the highest waterfall in England at an impressive 220ft, to abseil down for CHSW.
With the help of the Royal Marines, all 15 participants made it safely down the steep and slippery rock face.
Faced with the prospect of a 220ft descent down a craggy cliff and waterfall the team showed great courage and team spirit. The event was thoroughly enjoyed by all, even by those who were pale and shaking at the top, with an impressive £1,743 raised for Ashfords charity of the year, CHSW.
Tricia Sail, 40, from Exeter, will be going that extra mile to raise funds for Fight for Sight, a charity close to her heart. On 24 May, Tricia, who was diagnosed with Uveitis in 2013, will be walking 100km from London to Brighton with friends for the main UK's charity that funds pioneering eye research to prevent sight loss and treat eye disease. The challenge will be extremely difficult as Tricia has lost the sight in her right eye and only has 20 per cent vision in her left. Some curious creatures have given birth at Paignton Zoo.
Despite their name, common tenrecs - from Madagascar – are rarely seen in zoos. This litter of four is the Zoo’s second - mother Felicia came from the first litter, born at the Zoo just last year. The four were born on 3rd April but can now be spotted coming out for mealworms with the adults.

Stephen Sutton a 19-year-old who raised more than £3.2m for charity has died peacefully in his sleep, his mother said on his Facebook page.
The teenager from Burntwood in Staffordshire, was diagnosed with terminal cancer aged 15 but resolved to overcome his illnesss to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust .
