Starting in April 2010, talented local seamstress, Julie Trickey is celebrating two successful years of running her shop at 38 Mill Street in Sidmouth (EX10 8DF).

Tucked behind Sidmouth high street, Overly Gorgeous is the ideal place for plus sized ladies to shop. Items are all hand crafted by Julie and ladies have the choice of either buying off-the-rack or having something completely bespoke tailor made for them by Julie.

Thanksgiving celebrations on Streatham Campus

The University of Exeter is holding a range of activties tomorrow to celebrate American Thanksgiving.

Celebrations will include a traditonal Thanksgiving lunch for staff and students and a 'touch' American football game on the piazza (supported by the University's cheerleaders).

There will also be an all-American themed harvest festival eating area where a traditional two course Thanksgiving feast of roast turkey or nut roast with gravy, creamed potato, buttered sweet corn and other vegetables, followed by pumpkin pie or American cheesecake, will be available....

Hunt for baby who was born on Tuesday June 18, 2012

The Magdalen Chapter, in Exeter, is on the look out for a tot who is soon to celebrate his or her first birthday.

The Chapter, which opened its doors to the public on Tuesday June 18th 2012, is looking for a child who was born on the same day as the hotel opened.

The search will see one lucky child being offered the chance to host his or her first birthday party at The Magdalen Chapter. The prize will include high tea and cake for up to 20 guests plus helium balloons for all the children to take home and luxury spa party bags for the mums.

University of Exeter celebrates Chinese New Year

The Chinese New Year is the biggest and most important festival in China. 2013 is the Year of the Snake and is the sixth sign of the Chinese Zodiac, which consists of twelve animal signs. The University of Exeter will be celebrating the Year of the Snake on Saturday 16th February in the city and on the Streatham Campus.

Shields Buildings celebrates 21st Anniversary

Invited guests and visitors at Shields Buildings ‘Open Day’ were welcomed with a glass of Bucks Fizz. The event held at de Bathe Farm near Okehampton celebrated the company’s re-brand and 21st anniversary with a charity draw in aid of Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

The independently owned company with one of the most comprehensive ranges of bespoke sectional buildings in the South West used the event to showcase the launch of its first architect-designed garden office studio.

Silent vigil in Bedford Square as the lights went on

While the music was playing and excitement grew before the Christmas lights were switched on, many people passed by a silent vigil in Bedford Square. This was organised by the Exeter Interfaith & Belief Group in solidarity with faith communities around the world who suffer persecution or violence because of their faith. The vigil was sparked by the killing of Sikhs in Wisconsin in the United States earlier in the year but there are sadly many other oppressed religious groups elsewhere: Baha'is in Iran, Muslims in Burma to name just two.

Training and coaching business, Crisp Professional Development hosted a celebratory lunch at the Blue Ball last week for the students who completed their ILM Level 5 qualification in Management.

The ILM Level 5 is a challenging qualification, involving ten days of learning, individual coaching and work-based written assignments.
