Deaf students entertain Exeter Christmas shoppers

On Thursday 8th December, Princesshay shoppers were treated to a different kind of carol service by the Exeter Deaf Academy.

Students from Exeter Deaf Academy took to Princesshay to perform carol favourites, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Silent Night, O Come all ye Faithful, Away in a Manger, Frosty the Snowman and White Christmas, in British Sign Language (BSL).

Carols on the Quay a success

Exmouth Quay’s annual concert of traditional Christmas carols held on Sunday 11 December was a huge success with well over a hundred people joining in the fun.

The Exmouth Town Band, Exmouth Shanty Men, and the Woodbury Community choir provided the music for the event which was hosted by Martin Nicholls and raised funds for Christian Aid.

Property developer Eagle One, who built most of the quayside homes and are just completing the last 14 apartments at The Point, is the main sponsor of the event. Other traders at the Quay provide help with the fund-raising and the event...

Santa, sleigh and reindeer come to Cofton

Devon’s favourite multi-award-winning holiday park, Cofton Country Holidays near Dawlish, is readying itself for the arrival of four very special guests on Thursday 22nd December when Father Christmas, his happy helper Elvina, and two of his most radiant reindeer come to Cofton for the afternoon.

Bringing the spirit of Christmas to Cofton whilst raising money for Children’s Hospice South West, the free to enter event will see Santa sweep in to Cofton on a sleigh drawn by Comet and Cupid at midday, ready for photos with children between 12pm and 1pm.

Exeter College Christmas Concert supports Devon Air Ambulance

This Christmas Exeter College invite the public to join them in their festive celebrations and support Devon Air Ambulance (DAA). Exeter College’s Festival of Carols will be held on Thursday 8th December at Exeter Cathedral in aid of DAA as the College’s chosen Charity of the Year.

This event is open to the public and free of charge, in turn the College would like to collect donations at the end of the evening for DAA. The festival will run from 7:30pm to 9pm, with doors opening at 6:30pm.

Lunchtime carols to raise a Cathedral’s roof

This Wednesday (16th December) sees the beginning of Exeter Cathedral’s free lunchtime carol services for shoppers and city workers.

The popular events, which attract hundreds of people each year, give visitors the opportunity to take the place of the Cathedral Choir and sing their favourite Christmas carols accompanied by the mighty Cathedral Organ.

“Lunchtime Carols” begins at 13.00 on Wednesday 16th, Saturday 19th and Tuesday 22nd December. Each service lasts around an hour and admission is free with a retiring collection.

Exeter Cathedral is the stunning backdrop to Exeter College's Festival of Carols being held on Friday December 5th in aid of the college's charity of the year, YoungMinds. The free event, open to the public, will open its doors from 6.30pm to anyone wishing to join the college's staff, students and family members to celebrate the festive season, with the event starting at 7.30pm. Donations collected at the end of the evening will go towards the college's annual fundraising for their chosen charity.
