The Old Rectory Care home based in Exeter, announces it has been rated ‘overall outstanding’ by Care Quality Commission (CQC), in four domains: effective, responsive, caring and well-led, and is one of only three nursing homes in the area to be awarded this high-rating.
Just under 20,000 community based health and care services are inspected by CQC over a 12month period, and following the announcement, The Old Rectory is now part of the elite 1% in the U.K., inspected by the CQC who get outstanding, and is even less for nursing homes.
On 10th July, The Seaton Care Home, part of independent care provider Southern Healthcare, celebrated ‘International Teddy Bear Picnic Day’ in their newly refurbished courtyard with under 5’s from local nursery Pink Hippo. Staff at RMBI Home Cadogan Court in Exeter, have teamed up with The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth, to bring some interesting animals to meet with residents. The donkey handling team brought Willow, the miniature donkey, with them to the care home on Barley Lane on Friday 23 May. Willow has a calm nature and has been trained to go down corridors. He visited residents in different parts of the Home with his handlers, and enjoyed eating ginger biscuits and carrots. A local man, whose Mother lived at Lucerne House Care Home in Exeter at the end of her life, has helped plant a memorial tree outside the care home as a permanent way for care home staff, residents, relatives and friends of the home to remember those who lived there.
