Free, specialist Information and support about cancer is coming to Devon from Tuesday 6 September to Thursday 8 September.

Macmillan Cancer Support’s mobile service will be visiting the area, with cancer information specialists on hand to answer questions and provide information. The team encourages anyone with worries or concerns relating to cancer to stop by, whether you’re living with or beyond cancer, or are a carer or loved one of someone who is.

M&S and FORCE Cancer Centre are calling on local people to roll up their sleeves and Spark Something Good in a week of volunteering that will positively impact 24 projects at the heart of the community in Exeter and Plymouth.

On Sunday 11 September, we are calling on volunteers to help give patients, carers and families a peaceful outside space where they can come to talk, relax, and simply be together in a safe and peaceful environment.. To achieve this, we need volunteers who will weed, cut the grass, tidy and paint the garden facility at the cancer centre in Exeter.

M&S and Making for Charity are calling on local people to roll up their sleeves and Spark Something Good in a week of volunteering that will positively impact 24 projects at the heart of the community in Exeter and Plymouth.

On Thursday 8 and Friday 9 September, we are calling on volunteers to help us create bags for hospital patients to carry their syringe drivers and drainage bottles following surgery. The bags will be donated to local oncology departments and hospices. Machine sewing skills would be hugely appreciated in any of our two-hour slots.

Thousands of women united at Westpoint Exeter this weekend with one mission in mind – to conquer cancer.

Now Cancer Research UK is calling on Exeter’s formidable army of mighty-mums, gutsy-grans, feisty friends and go-getting girls to make every step count by paying in their sponsorship money as soon as possible.

Patients rate cancer care highly at RD&E

Patients treated for cancer at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital have highly rated the level of care they received in the 2015 National Cancer Patient Experience Survey.

In its fifth year, the NHS England National Cancer Patient Experience Survey is designed to monitor national progress on cancer care, to drive forward quality improvements, and to inform the work of groups supporting patients. Organisations are rated as being ‘lower’, ‘within’ or ‘higher’ than an expected range.

At the RD&E, 1,044 cancer patients took part in the survey, with response rate of 76%....

Choirs collaborate for cancer cause

Three choirs present Summer Sing – “a joyous, uplifting evening of singing” – in Exeter on Friday, July 8, to help people with cancer and their families.
