The National Trust on Dartmoor is using the power of horses to help with its woodland management at Hembury Woods, near Buckfastleigh.

National award for local coffee business

Buckfastleigh-based independent coffee specialist, Coffee West Ltd, has been announced as winner of ‘Distributor of the year’ trade award at the Spring Ball in London last week.

The Award ceremony on 10 April, 2013 was sponsored by the Essential Café magazine and took place at St John’s Smith Square, in the heart of Westminster.

The awards observed the highest standards in terms of objectivity and impartiality and have been decided in closed session by an independent panel of judges.

Devon adds its voice to MMR campaign

Devon’s Director of Public Health is urging parents to ensure their children have had their MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) vaccinations, following a measles outbreak in Wales.

Dr Virginia Pearson’s message is part of a national joint campaign between the Association for Directors of Public Health, Public Health England – the government organisation responsible for immunisation; and the Local Government Association, to increase take-up of the vaccine in children and teenagers, following the recent outbreak in some parts of the UK.
