People who contact NHS 111 online or by phone, at any time of day or night, will get quicker clinical advice and care before they visit an Emergency Department.

Doctors in Devon are reminding both residents and visitors this bank holiday weekend that if you need urgent medical advice, there’s just one telephone number to remember – 111 .

By contacting 111 first, either online or by phone, people will get quicker and safer access to NHS services when they need urgent care.

Doctors in Devon are reassuring local people that the NHS is still there for them if they are unwell and need help, but reminding them that opening hours for some services may be different due to the bank holiday weekend.

GP practices will be closed on Monday 25 May for the bank holiday, but other services are available for people with urgent health needs over the holiday period.

It's a bit of a mixed bag for weather this holiday weekend, there's sunshine, clouds and even outbreaks of thundery showers expected.

A yellow warning for rain has been issued for Saturday with showers, some of them heavy and thundery, together with outbreaks of rain spreading north across much of England and Wales, elsewhere we will see sunny spells. Revellers heading for Radio 1’s Big Weekend at Powderham Castle over this Bank Holiday are being urged to make their personal safety number one.

Around 50,000 music fans are expected to visit the Exeter venue on Saturday and Sunday to see some of today’s biggest chart acts perform live.
