A University of Exeter apprentice is celebrating after winning at the Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards .

Mamadou Kone, who was one of six shortlisted apprentices studying at University of Exeter, won in the Transport and Logistics category.at an awards ceremony in Birmingham last week.

Mamadou chose a Degree Apprenticeship as way of accessing higher education and developing his skills and knowledge after focusing much of his childhood and teenage years on pursuing a career in football.

Apprenticeship Day highlights training success at Hendy Group

As Apprenticeship Week gets underway in the UK, (Feb 6th to 12th) one south coast motoring group has held a dedicated event to mark their achievements.

Hendy Group currently has 63 apprentices working in the business and has plans to recruit more this year.

Exeter apprentice starts new learning journey with Amazon

An apprentice who works at Amazon’s delivery station in Exeter is taking the first step on the path to higher education and new experiences after joining the Amazon Apprenticeship programme.

Amazon is creating 1,000 full-time apprenticeships in the UK this year. The apprenticeships cover 25 different programmes ranging from IT, safety technician and HR through to software engineering and creative digital design. Roles include 100 degree-level apprenticeships and more than 500 apprenticeships for Amazon employees, providing an opportunity to retrain and gain new skills

NHS degree apprenticeships with University of Exeter go from strength to strength – despite COVID-19

There are now 200 organisations working with the University of Exeter on degree apprenticeship programmes, which combine work with part-time study – allowing for on-the-job experience while students work towards a degree qualification.

NHS employees enrolled on newly launched degree apprenticeship programmes in Diagnostic Radiography, Clinical Associate in Psychology and Senior Leader Healthcare during 2020, raising the total number of NHS apprentices to 203 – up from 29 this time last year.

Barratt Homes becomes Exeter College’s Employer of the Month

A local south west house builder has been recognised by Exeter College for championing apprenticeships.

Barratt Homes was awarded the title of Employer of the Month for its work with students and for appointing the UK’s first ever marketing apprentice, Barney Munn.

In addition to the new marketing role, there are 13 apprentices working towards their NVQ levels two and three at Barratt Homes across the region. They will be covering topics including carpentry with 10 bricklaying and one each in technical and commercial.

Apprentices at the University of Exeter will take part in a series of events during National Apprenticeship Week (5-9 March 2018).

The university employs 40 apprentices, and they will take on challenges ranging from a live broadcast to escaping from locked rooms at Exeter’s Mission Escape.

They will also join the Apprenticeship Games in Cornwall, and help promote apprenticeships and answer questions at Exeter College’s Apprenticeship Expo.
