Exeter law firm chooses charities of the year

Two local charities that help both young and older people are set to benefit from the fundraising efforts of a leading Exeter law firm, after being selected by its staff to become its charities of the year.

Children’s Hospice South West and Age UK Exeter have been chosen as the charities of the year by Stephens Scown LLP. The charities were suggested by staff and came out top in a staff vote. Princesshay announce 2015 charity partner

Princesshay has announced Age UK Exeter as its charity partner for 2015.

Committed to supporting local charities and organisations, Princesshay will be working with Age UK Exeter throughout the year on special events and fundraising activities.

Age UK Exeter is a local charity serving local people and is part of the Age UK family. Each year Age UK Exeter connects with over 5,000 older people and directly supports 1,000 older people every week. It delivers over 30 services and activities across the city weekly and is support by over 250 volunteers.

Charity Quiz Night at Exeter City Football Club

Cafe at 36 are organising their fourth quiz night to be held at St James Park on Friday 21st March 2014. Come along and join in the fun, teams of up to 5 people may enter and the fee is £3 per person.

All proceeds raised go towards Age UK Exeter to help support vulnerable older people in Exeter and prevent social isolation.

There'll be a licenced bar, and a Ploughman's Supper if you're feeling peckish.

Cafe at 36 from St Thomas Exeter have organised their third fund raising quiz night being held to support Age UK Exeter, their local charity in Cowick Street.

The quiz is being held at Exeter City Football Club, on the 23rd January 2014, kick off is at 7.30 pm. There is a fully licenced bar and hog roasted pork baps will be available at half time!

John Lewis partners with Age UK Exeter to offer IT and Biscuits Day

ITea and Biscuits Week takes place this week (16-22 September). A popular annual event, it aims to encourage older people who don't currently use computers, the internet, tablets and smartphones to discover the benefits this technology offers.

During the week, local Age UKs and other organisations will run free 'taster sessions' across the country, at which older people can learn about technology in a friendly and supportive environment. These events will cover a wide range of useful topics such as using the internet, texting, and digital photography, to name but a few.

The heat is on to find top Teignbridge & Exeter curry chef

The heat will be turned up on curry chefs in Exeter and Teignbridge this week in an attempt to find out who can rustle up the best balti.

Ten of Exeter and Teignbridge's finest curry chefs will be putting their best dishes to the test on Wednesday (20 February) at @34 Restaurant, Exeter College. At stake will be the prestigious title of Exeter & Teignbridge Curry Chef of the Year 2013. Support Age UK Exeter and sign up for next year's Arctic Challenge

This is your chance to have the experience of a lifetime and make a difference to someone else's.

You will learn survival skills such as husky driving, ice fishing, cross country skiing, shelter building and more on this eight-day Arctic adventure which takes place in Sweden in March 2014. If you would like to take part in this challenge and support the fantastic work of Age UK Exeter, you will need to raise a minimum of £2,500.
