Venus Awards Devon 2014 open for nominations

The Devon Venus Business Women Awards 2014 officially opened for nominations at a glamorous launch party in Exeter last night.

Local business men and women were welcomed at Amanda Marsden Lifestyle Salon by event organiser Celia Delaney of SpeakingSuccess and Venus Awards founder Tara Howard.

The awards aim to celebrate and recognise the achievements of the county’s working women and entrepreneurs.

Award materializes for young monster artist

Pandora Munoz has won first prize in a design a Doctor Who monster competition run by St Thomas Library.

The library, situated in Church road, Exeter, hosted an award event presenting Pandora with an upgraded version of the design she created.

The monster was redrawn and coloured by Simon Brett a local artist who works for the longest running scifi magazine in the world, Starburst. He presented Pandora with a framed original of her creature: ‘The Soul Stealer’.

Charity run organisers call for sponsors

The region’s largest corporate charity run is calling for sponsors to boost its fund-raising for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Michelmores Charity Run, which is now in its 15th year, attracts over 1000 runners and now raises in excess of £30,000 each year for its chosen charity.

The run takes place over a 5K city centre course which starts on Cathedral Yard and finishes at Exeter Castle.

The Devon Hotels and Restaurants Association has teamed up with the Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink to offer accommodation and ticket packages for those travelling to the city. Members of the association including the Mill End Hotel, Dartmoor; the Sidholme Hotel, Sidmouth and the Abode Hotel, Exeter are offering visitors a reduced festival ticket price and discounted accommodation for food fans to make the most of their weekend in Exeter.
