A Devon-based online business, which was only set up 18 months ago to sell quality wines, has been shortlisted for two awards in a prestigious international competition. Wickhams, which is based in Newton Abbot, has been shortlisted for the International Wine Challenge (IWC) Merchant Awards UK 2022, in the 'Online Retailer of the Year' and 'Specialist Merchant of the Year England' categories. The number of UK schools with international links has gone downhill since Brexit kicked in and the UK government’s decision to opt out of the Erasmus+ study scheme.

Exeter based wealth management and accountancy firm Old Mill has acquired Ilminster financial outsourcing firm Brook Financial as part of its ambitious growth plans to become the fastest-growing practice in the South West.

Ban on charging for DIY waste could lead to closure of some recycling centres

Some of Devon’s recycling centres could be at risk of closure or operate with reduced hours if Government proposals to ban charging for DIY waste get the green light.

That’s the warning from Councillor Roger Croad, Devon County Council’s (DCC) Cabinet Member for Public Health, Communities and Equality, who is also responsible for waste services.

The NHS in Devon has hosted the national team from health and social care champions Healthwatch England; an independent body, which uses patient feedback to improve standards of care.

The team, led by national Chair Sir Robert Francis, began their visit at Exeter Mosque, which has worked closely with the NHS to support worshippers to have their Covid-19 vaccination.
