Established in 1872, the Devon County Agricultural Association (DCAA) is one of Devon’s oldest and most established institutions.  As such, the majority of its membership represents an ageing demographic.

But all that is primed for change with the introduction of a new Young Members programme, jam packed with benefits geared towards the 16-30 age group.

Show Manager, Sam Mackenzie-Green has tasked a dedicated team with creating a Membership package that will entice a whole new generation to get involved with both the Association and its annual flagship event, the Devon County Show.

“Our members are the backbone of the organisation and recruiting younger members is now a priority for us,” says Sam.

“We want to see younger people from across Devon helping us to secure and shape the future of Devon County Show.”

Heading up the Young Members drive are Show Team members Georgia Tanner and Molly Vigus.

They said: “We have spent the last few months building a package of benefits that we know will appeal to this age group.  Building the social benefits of the membership is key.

“With this in mind, we are launching a Winter Ball exclusively for members and re-instating the popular Young Farmers After Show Party.

“We have also created a new Young Members Camping Area at the Show so subscribers can enjoy the full Show experience with their friends.”

The dynamic duo has launched a dedicated DCAA Young Members Instagram, Tik Tok account and Facebook page.

Continuing, they said: “We know that young people get so much of their information online, so we need the DCAA Young Members to feel part of their world.”

The initiative comes complete with a brand new logo, its own advertising as well as a collaboration with cool clothing company Wop Wops to launch a range of branded shorts and tops for Young Members.

Young Members is available for 16-30 year olds and costs £33 for the year which includes entry to the Devon County Show on all three days.

Members of the Young Farmers Club receive a £10 discount on their first year’s subscription.
