Word Play: New dates released

InExeter are pleased to announce further Word Play event dates.

Word Play was launched in July and following its success five extra dates have been confirmed for 2022. It is a free, family friendly event for children celebrating storytelling and the beauty of the written word and is held at Positive Light Projects on Sidwell Street.

The South West Business Council (SWBC) has announced that they will be joined by world-leading environmental experts, top university wildlife academics, members of the House of Lords and the Crown Estate, as well as delegates honoured by the Queen, for their upcoming Quarterly Conference this September in Devon.

Education company IMP Software, specialists in budgeting, forecasting and reporting software for multi-academy trusts (MATs), has made a number of key appointments as it reports a 100% increase in customer growth in 12 months. IMP, which is based in Exeter but operates as a virtual team nationwide, has boosted its headcount by 60% to support its work with 198 MATs and 1,750 schools.

Rope supplying company supports local cat rescue

On the 8th August, Buy Rope donated a full day of profits to a Devon based charity called Hector’s House Cat Rescue to celebrate International Cat Day.

Hector’s House is a cat rescue centre, committed to rescuing, neutering and rehabilitating abandoned and stray tom cats. Hector’s House is formed of volunteers who have experience working with cat rescues but have a passion for the strays. They ensure all cats receive a health check, neuter and further treatment if necessary at local veterinary practices. This is all funded through charitable donations.

Stagecoach South West Managing Director Mike Watson has confirmed plans to stand down in January 2023 after 11 years in various roles across the wider group.

Mike (48), who has more than 25 years’ experience in the bus sector with several major public transport companies, was appointed to lead the south-west business on an interim basis in December 2019. He was confirmed as Managing Director in February 2020 just before the start of the pandemic.

Over the past 15 years or so, a trend has emerged showing that young people in the UK are drinking less alcohol. Considerably less, in fact.
