Why you should book a trip to New York today
Around the world, New York is seen as a place where dreams come true – a magical place seen only on iconic TV shows like Friends, Sex and the City, and Seinfeld. A city so enigmatic that it is almost a character of its own. Whether it's six pals drinking in a bar in How I Met Your Mother, an epic love story reaching its climactic conclusion in the middle of Times Square, or Carrie Bradshaw shopping in New York for her latest fashion piece – we have grown up with a dreamlike impression of the Big Apple and it is time to finally fulfill that dream and see it for yourself.
Museums and Art Galleries
New York is considered to be a cultural hub thanks to extensive immigration and the huge variation of residents, meaning there is no such thing as a ‘typical New Yorker’. This melting pot inevitably produces some notable artistic prowess including some interesting modern art and many small independent theatre productions. In line with its cultural prowess, New York is home to a plethora of museums and art galleries such as the world-famous Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Live Music & Sport Events
One huge drawing point that keeps tourists coming to New York year after year is its legendary sports teams. Baseball, Basketball, Hockey, or whatever sport you enjoy, you will be able to find an epic game taking place in New York (if you manage to get tickets that is).
New York is also the perfect place to experience live music on both a grand scale at Madison Square Garden and more intimate performances from smaller, local bands. You do not even need to do your research, just head out into the city as the sun is going down and you will soon stumble upon a bit of live music to enjoy.
In a place as big and thriving as New York City, it’s no surprise that you can find excellent live music every night of the week, and on top of that, you have some of the most excellent sporting events. It’s also no surprise this is one of our top reasons to visit New York City, considering its fame for the arts, and its sports teams.
Food
Another way in which New York benefits from its various cultural influences is through the massive range of different foods you can find throughout the city. Of course, you can get your hands on the classic New York-style pizza, giant pretzels, and rainbow bagels but there is really no end to the number of delicacies on offer and you could easily spend your entire trip taste-testing your way across the boroughs. Head out to Chinatown or Little Italy or take your pick of the various food trucks you come across on the high street.
Landmarks
New York boasts an unusually high number of iconic landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Centre, the Chrysler Building, Ellis Island, Brooklyn Bridge, and the list goes on and on. So if you still need convincing, do it for the Instagram pictures.
